City officials and development groups are coming together to restore City Island to its former glory.

City Island is known for its amazing views and restaurants, but in recent years many of the popular local businesses have closed. The diverse downtown area is now short 20 shops, many which have been vacant for years.

"I think it's really sad and I think it's a lot of lost revenue for the city and owners who have these shops," said Director of Tourism Maria Caruso.

The Bronx Economic Development Group is working with city officials to come up with a solution to get the vacant store fronts filled.
