Community trailblazers honored at Black History Month celebration
Community trailblazers were honored for their work in the Bronx and across the city at a Black History Month celebration at Hostos Community College Monday.
NYPD First Deputy Commissioner Benjamin Tucker, NYCHA Resident Council President Danny Barber, New York state Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Taylor and Monica Major, the director of education and youth services in the Bronx, received recognition from state Sen. Jose Serrano.
The four were acknowledged for fighting inequality, corruption and discrimination.
Every honoree received a congressional record and Senate proclamation.
