Councilmember Justin Brannan and Sen. Andrew Gounardes stood outside of Chadwick’s on Third Avenue and 89th Street in Bay Ridge Thursday, asking for the mayor and governor to open indoor dining in New York City.
The men were joined by restaurant owners who say they understand the health crisis and that there needs to be safety regulations, but say there is no plan or guidance for them.
The mayor has said the reason they’ve hesitated is because they’ve seen a resurgence elsewhere that they believe is directly connected to allowing indoor dining.
Some of those restaurant owners saying outdoor dining is not sustainable and will force many of them to close their doors if a plan isn’t put in place.
