De Blasio signs ban on sale of flavored e-cigarettes, vaping liquids
The city is taking another step in getting New Yorkers, especially teens, off of electronic cigarettes and vaping products.
On Monday, Mayor Bill de Blasio signed a new law that bans the sale of flavored electronic cigarettes and vaping liquids.
De Blasio says the rise in vaping is reminiscent of Big Tobacco from the '50s. He says that swift action must be taken so that the same health consequences are not felt.
"They're taking a page out of the playbook of Big Tobacco from over half a century ago, and running the exact same play and our children are the pawns in their very devious game, and it's simply in the name of a few people making the biggest profit we will not stand for that," said de Blasio.
The ban takes effect next July.
