Death of Grammy Award-winning drummer in Mott Haven reclassified as homicide

Police have reclassified the investigation into the death of a Grammy Award-winning jazz drummer found dead in a Mott Haven apartment building as a homicide.
Police say Lawrence Leathers was strangled to death, citing "asphyxia with compression of the neck."
Leathers was found unconscious inside his apartment building on East 141st Street earlier this month.
Lisa Harris and her boyfriend, Sterling Aguilar, were arrested and charged with assault in connection to the Leather's death.
Those charges are expected to be upgraded.
