A rally was held Wednesday to call for funding to finish a long-awaited Williamsburg park.
Parents and activists say the city keeps putting off the project because of funding issues.
They’re asking the city to include funding for Bushwick Inlet Park. Part of that project includes demolishing a building in the middle of the park and replacing the turf on an old soccer field.
Those calling for the project say there is a serious need for greenspace in these communities. They say for the soccer field, there are hundreds of neighborhood kids that play there all the time and the condition on the turf is a hazard for many.
As for the rest of the park, activists say they’re still waiting for what they were promised.
News 12 reached out to the mayor’s office and the Parks Department and has not heard back yet.
