Department of Sanitation to host pumpkin-smashing event following Halloween

The Department of Sanitation is hosting pumpkin-smashing events all around the city to not only get rid of old pumpkins, but to make compost.

The Department of Sanitation is hosting pumpkin-smashing events all around the city to not only get rid of old pumpkins, but to make compost.
The events are hosted by the NYC Compost Project and GrownNYC. The smashed pumpkins will be turned into compost that helps revitalize soil in city parks and green spaces.
One event will be held on Nov. 6 at Lehman College from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
