The Department of Consumer Affairs sent representatives to businesses in all five boroughs Thursday to educate workers about the minimum wage increase set to take effect before the end of the year.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a law in April to increase city minimum wage from $9 an hour to $15 an hour by the end of 2018, but businesses with more than 11 employees have to bump workers to $11 an hour before 2017. Fast food workers will be making $12 an hour.

The department's goal is to educate businesses about the pay increase as well as how to comply with the legislation. Representatives are also reminding employees to keep an eye out for their pay increases.
