A Longwood school is getting upgrades worth $750,000.
The money will be spent on new surveillance cameras and a removable wall in the gym at the Kelly Street building that houses M.S. 302 and Girls Prep Bronx Elementary School.
New York City Councilman Rafael Salamanca set aside $2.1 million in capital funds for his "participatory budget," allowing residents in District 17 to decide how to spend it.
Salamanca says work can begin on these improvements when the fiscal year starts on July 1.
The participatory budget will also pay for a sensory room at P.S. 352 and technology upgrades at eight schools across District 17.
