Parents in the community say they are reeling and shocked due to unanswered questions from a disturbing incident involving a 10-year-old girl who received a love letter from a 23-year-old teacher's aide.

The discovery of the letter from Estevan Hamilton, who worked at The Steam Bridge School, has left many questioning the school's acknowledgement.

"It's definitely disgusting... Teachers are there for these kids to look out for them," said concerned parent Francisco Quiniones.

The contents of the letter, though not explicitly detailed, conveyed Hamilton's professed love for the 10-year-old girl.

A police investigation showed that after the discovery, Hamilton confessed to what was in the letter and also acknowledged the significant 13-year age difference.

The girl's stepfather took matters into his own hands after reading the letter and confronted Hamilton at the school, resulting in a physical altercation.

While some may question the stepfather's actions, many parents in the area voiced understanding, emphasizing the instinct to protect their child.

The school's silence on the matter during a recent meeting has only fueled parental concerns.

Parents whose children attend The Steam Bridge School spoke to News 12 crew off camera and said that the school stated they couldn't comment on the issue as it is an ongoing investigation.

The 10-year-old's stepfather has not currently been charged.

Hamilton was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment.
