Time is running thin if you are thinking about getting your child a COVID-19 vaccine before the next school year.
The head of Brown University's School of Public Health says now is the time to get those shots because if takes five weeks from the first dose to become fully vaccinated.
"We've got to really ramp up our vaccinations, especially with delta variants spreading much more widely across the country," says Dr. Ashish Jha.
Right now, only Pfizer's vaccine is approved for children as young as 12.
The Food and Drug Administration has also warned that the vaccines are linked to a small number of rare, but treatable, heart conditions in young adults.
Overall, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisors say the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks.
