A dog missing a whopping six years has finally returned home to her Bronx family.
The wish for a Bronx family’s dog to return home after going missing six years ago has finally come true. Luna was just a puppy when Shawntae Stewart says she ran off, leaving their family heartbroken.
“I was eight months pregnant, so I couldn’t chase her,” said Stewart. “We went looking for her everywhere around the neighborhood, and we could not find her.”
Luna’s microchip sparked hope in their family that she could make it back home. Stewart finally received a letter from the Animal Care Centers of New York City saying that it had found Luna.
Now the dog is reunited with her family and her brother Zeus.
“When I walked in, she jumped on me, she licked me. I was sort of like, ‘Is she going to remember me?’… it was a very, very sweet moment,” said Stewart.
