The state has some big plans for the Bronx, announcing it wants to expand the Hutchinson Metro Center, which is expected to bring hundreds of jobs to the borough.
The state says the redevelopment project will not only create spaces for several facilities, including medical and trade school or college, but it will also feature new park space.
The expansion and renovation will add nearly 2 million square feet of space.
The huge expansion will also renovate three existing buildings at the mental health campus and six new buildings are expected to be used for retail, medical offices and a college and trade school. Developers are also looking into a new hotel for the area.
The project will also welcome Bronx residents to enjoy the area. News 12 is told four baseball fields will be replaced and remodeled which will have biking and walking paths. As far as traffic and congestion, the developers are promising to construct new roads to avoid the heavy flow of traffic for drivers and subway commuters.
A meeting for questions and concerns open to the public took place Monday at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
