A series of roads in Hunts Point have received major safety improvements from the Department of Transportation in the last few months.
The project focuses on a half-mile stretch from Tiffany Street to Edgewater Road. There are multiple schools along the area, which means many children are crossing.
From 2012 to 2016, the DOT says there was one fatality, six severe injuries and 84 other injuries.
They have now installed upgraded ramps and islands. A pedestrian crossing, painted curb extensions and spaces were also added.
Residents in the neighborhood say they are happy with the changes.
