Citi Bike docks may soon be coming to the Bronx, the Department of Transportation tells News 12.
The DOT released a draft map of where the bike docks may be installed as part of their plan to increase Citi Bikes to 40,000 by 2024. Some neighborhoods include Port Morris, Mott Haven and Melrose.
Residents say it will be welcomed in communities with heavy traffic.
"I think it's a good idea," says Brittney Brown of Concourse Village. "149th Street is a busy area in the Bronx. You have the post office, a lot of activities and the mall down the block. I think it's a good idea they are bringing it to this area."
The DOT tells News 12 that a final draft plan will be released this spring, which is when they plan to begin installing the Bronx's first bike docks.
