Dr. Christina Johns, senior medical advisor for PM Pediatrics, spoke to News 12's Elizabeth Hashagen about how parents can keep their children healthy during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Dr. Johns says one of the most common questions she gets from parents is, "Can I get outside with my kids right now and take a walk?"
She says that you can. She says that if you are going on a walk, where you will encounter people you should wear a mask. If you are the only ones out in the backyard, or a remote trail, then a mask is not necessary. She suggests to always carry a mask with you, in case you encounter someone, you can put it on.
She says when putting a mask on a child it should completely cover over the nose and mouth. She also suggests that children over 2 years old should wear masks.
