A driver is dead after smashing into the side of a truck in Brooklyn Heights early Tuesday, police say.
Investigators say Jahir Moody, 21, was driving northbound on Hicks Street around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue.
He crashed into a tractor-trailer that police say was carrying empty chicken coops.
The car went up in flames, killing Moody and injuring at least one other person in the car.
Police confirm that a gun was also found on the ground at the scene of the accident.
They say the gun has not been traced to any prior crimes yet, and it’s too early for that to be investigated.
Investigators also say it does not appear that Moody was being pursued at the time of the accident.
Police say a 22-year-old man who was in the backseat of the car is being treated for injuries at the hospital and a third passenger of the car is missing.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt.
