E-bike and e-scooter speed limit regulation in effect Friday

In the mayor's announcement, he stated, "As more New Yorkers turn to e-bikes and e-scooters to get around our city, New Yorkers have asked us to set clear, consistent rules to address this issue and protect everyone. Starting October 24, whether you're riding, walking, or driving, we know that everyone will be safe and protected on our streets."

Mayor Eric Adams announced a 15-mph speed limit for e-bikes and e-scooters earlier this summer - and this regulation now goes into effect on Friday.

Bronx residents like Kwamme, who was hit by one, thinks this will be a positive change.

"I got into an accident with them one time where they were going the wrong way, It's a little bit of a problem.. hopefully laws get passed and things change," he says.
