The Edenwald Public Library will be receiving a financial upgrade to revamp its facility.
The library will be getting $10.6 million from Bronx Councilman Kevin C. Riley to help with a long overdue facelift.
"The libraries means so much to communities, especially communities of color,” Riley said. “It is a safe space where people could thrive and really grow."
The funding will go toward giving the library Wi-Fi upgrades, new computers and a new air conditioning system. The investment will also improve spaces for kids and teens.
"We've turned the branches into education centers after school, early literacy, college guidance, we can help you find a job,” added New York Public Library President Tony Marx. “You know, citizenship, all of that is so essential right now, which is why it's, you know, terrifying to think we're facing a city budget cuts. At our level we've never seen before."
The money for the library will go along with the $1.9 million given to the NYPL by Rep. Carl Heastie.
