Tenants of a nine-story Bronx building say they've been without a working elevator since October.
Residents at 112 Henwood Place say they were told on Oct. 12 that repairs would take two days. Now, in mid-December, they're still climbing the stairs to get in and out of their apartments.
Officials at Wave Crest Management, which operates the building, say the elevator failed a brake inspection.
Rather than making repairs, which they had initially estimated to cut service for only two days, they say they are replacing the entire elevator.
Officials say they're waiting on the manufacturer and have no estimate on when the replacement will be operational.
In the meantime, Wave Crest says it has hired workers to help tenants carry bags up the stairs.
