The new middle school adds 433 new seats to District 9 in an often overcrowded borough – it’ll welcome sixth graders next week for the first day of class.
The five story building is named after former Bronx Deputy Borough President Aurelia Greene. The school will have a focus on debate, with students learning how to communicate about the real world issues they face every day.
The Bronx Debate Academy comes with:
- Reading and speech resource rooms
- Science classroom
- Art and music classrooms
- Library
- Medical, guidance and administrative suites
- Staff lunch and conference room
- Parent and community room
- Kitchen and cafeteria
- Gymnatorium
- Exercise room
- Outdoor play space
