Fallen FDNY Deputy Chief Michael Fahy was honored Thursday during a street renaming ceremony in Tremont.
Fahy, a 17-year veteran of the department, was killed by falling debris. He was responding to a gas leak when an illegal marijuana grow house exploded back in 2016.
The ceremony was held outside the Walton Avenue firehouse where hundreds gathered to remember his sacrifice. The deputy chief left behind a wife and three children.
“There are a lot of young men that never get to know their dad at all. You know your dad is a hero. You will take that with you every day of your life,” said FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro.
