Book owned a limo company and ran for mayor as a Republican.
News 12 was told he went into the hospital with what appeared to be a manageable issue before the holidays, but his condition declined.
Friends say they had a chance to visit him and say goodbye, and he was surrounded by loved ones when he died.
Book was known for being outspoken on issues that were important to him and for being an advocate to people who were in need.
“Ethan always did his best to make a positive difference in our community,” says Mayor Joe Ganim.
