Family and friends of the man found dead at a pond in Crotona Park gathered Saturday to celebrate his life.
It would have been Sammie Jules Dominique Milhouse’s 27th birthday. Last November, a New York City Parks employee found Milhouse's body floating near the shoreline of Indian Pond.
He was pronounced dead when EMS retrieved his body. Police say there was no signs of trauma.
Milhouse's mother says he had a passion for rap and was also known as Drip Sxsa. Before his death, he posted his song “Home Sweet Home” on YouTube.
Milhouse leaves behind two sons, an 8- and a 5-year-old.
His mother says the phone call she received that notified her of his death still haunts her to this day. The family says they still do not know what had caused his death and are waiting for updates from the medical examiner.
