A vigil was held at Prospect Park to honor a Black Brooklyn woman whose family says was allegedly a victim of medical neglect.

Friends and family gathered to honor Imani Fecu's life on what would have been her 25th birthday to raise awareness of alleged medical racism in the health care system.
Over 50 people came to honor Fecu and the justice they want for her.

Fecu's family and friends say she struggled with mental health problems and drug abuse.
They also allege that she was neglected by her doctors and physicians, and that they didn't give her the proper care she needed.

Fecu's family says she died from a drug overdose in June.
"We're here today to raise awareness about medical and psychiatric racism, what it is doing to our communities," says Jennifer Fecu. "My daughter passed away June 25, and we don't want anyone else to suffer the way she did."

Fecu's family says they’re working to create a safehouse for young adults that is judgement-free.
