With millions of families coming together to eat their favorite meals for the holidays, Bronx native rapper Fat Joe and Krasdale Foods are making sure that even those facing food insecurity can do the same.
Hundreds of Bronx residents lined up for blocks in Mott Haven on Tuesday to get some of their favorite Thanksgiving goods. The partnership between Krasdale, Fat Joe, and other local supermarkets has been going on for four years, helping put food on the table for thousands of families during the holidays.
“I remember when my mother used to have to borrow from my grandfather to get us a turkey and get us food,” said Fat Joe. “So that's why it's so important, if you look at these bags these bags got turkeys, rice… yams, mac and cheese, soup. I mean you name it.”
Those in attendance expressed their gratitude for the charitable event, saying that the gesture of giving food to the community is a prime example of what makes the giving season so great.
