Officials say a brush fire broke out in Van Cortlandt Park – leaving the area completely burnt.
According to officials, it happened in the area next to the Major Deegan Expressway north.
The fire was placed under control, but fire crews were on the scene all morning battling the brush fire.
Video on the Citizen app from before 8 a.m. shows clouds of soke coming from the park.
Last week, Mayor Eric Adams alerted New Yorkers that the city was on drought watch.
It is not clear if the extraordinarily dry conditions were the cause of the fire.
The FDNY says no injuries have been reported.
