Hundreds of
residents had to rush into the streets after an early morning fire at an apartment building in Yonkers.
Fire officials say the flames broke out at an
apartment on the first floor of the seven-story building at 2 Sherwood Terrace,
just off Yonkers Avenue.
They say crews were able to contain the fire to just
that one apartment.
The resident of the apartment suffered burns to
their hands and had to be taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.
One firefighter was treated for minor injuries.
Other residents say they were woken up by fire
alarms and had to climb down the fire escape.
The cause
of the fire has not been released yet.
