Firefighters in Orange responded to a brush fire Friday that damaged a small farm.

It happened just before 4 p.m. on Dogburn Road. Fire officials say 1.25 acres burned.

In a Facebook post, officials said the wind caused the fire to move toward homes on Hillcrest Road.

Firefighters were able to stop the fire before any homes were damaged. A shed, supplies and equipment on the farm were destroyed.

In a press release, Fire Chief Vaughan Dumas said the fire burned through piles of building material, logs and fallen trees.

Dumas said fire was in a wooded area with rocky terrain and firefighters had to use rakes, axes and saws.

Woodbridge fire department assisted, along with Orange Fire Marshal's office, Orange Police and AMR EMS.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was notified.
