AAA
says a gallon of gas now costs on
average $4.86, a new record.
The
average for New York state currently sits two cents higher at $4.88, with the
city average currently at $5.05, according to AAA.
Even
with New York beginning the gas tax holiday to decrease the price of gas per
gallon, the cost at the pump continues to rise.
The
federal government has cited the ongoing war in Ukraine as one reasons for
the increase in gas prices, and people are scared to see if gas will hit $5 per
gallon nationwide.
“I’m
about to buy a scooter, you know, one of those battery scooters, and just leave
my car parked,” said David Samuel, a local driver. “It’s ridiculous.”
