Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Wednesday that five more people have tested positive for the coronavirus stemming from an attorney from New Rochelle.

He says a friend of the 50-year-old attorney, his wife, two sons and a daughter have the virus. Another daughter tested negative.

The total number of cases in New York is now 11. Gov. Cuomo made the announcement during his third news conference of the day.

Earlier, the governor announced that the attorney from New Rochelle is “now in stable condition and is improving.” He had been hospitalized in serious condition at a Manhattan hospital just a day earlier. The attorney’s wife, two children and a neighbor who also have the virus are being quarantined at home.

The Yeshiva University has confirmed one of its students, the attorney’s son, was diagnosed with coronavirus. The school canceled all classes at the Wilf Campus in Washington Heights on Wednesday.

Gov. Cuomo says the 39-year-old woman, the first case in New York, is recovering at her home.

The attorney works at the firm Lewish and Garbuz. Gov. Cuomo says workers at the law firm are being tested for the virus. So far, no one has come back positive.

Cuomo announced at a news conference that the wife, two kids and neighbor of the Westchester resident diagnosed with coronavirus also have COVID-19. This brings the total number of New York cases to at least six.

The girl, who is from New Rochelle, attends SAR Academy and High School in Riverdale. The school closed Tuesday in connection to her father’s case of coronavirus.

The academy told parents and staff that they are staying in contact with health officials and are monitoring the situation.

As for the Westchester County father, de Blasio says he appears to have pre-existing respiratory issues and works at a small law firm in Midtown Manhattan. Several of his colleagues are being tested by the city's Health Department.

According to officials, they say this is the first case of coronavirus being "community spread.” This means the patient did not travel to affected areas around the world, but officials say he did take trips to Israel and Miami. 

According to statistics from the World Health Association, there are more than 93,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus and at least 3,000 deaths around the world related to the virus. Nine people have died in Washington state due to coronavirus. 

Gov. Cuomo announced Wednesday he will suspend CUNY and SUNY study abroad programs in Italy, Iran, South Korea, China and Japan.
