Gov. Andrew Cuomo is stepping down after months of sexual harassment allegations and calls for his resignation.
In his resignation speech Tuesday, he remained defiant when addressing the scathing attorney general's report that stated he created a toxic workplace and sexually harassed 11 women.
Gov. Cuomo said the report was politically motivated, that more serious allegations were false and blamed others on cultural differences and generational shifts.
Gov. Cuomo’s attorney vowed to fight for him moments before his public address. She said the report was wrong on key facts and was nothing more than a setup.
However, Gov. Cuomo said he was resigning because the government needs to get back to governing.
“It is a matter of life and death, government operations, and wasting energy on distractions is the last thing state government should be doing,” he said.
