Haagen-Dazs will open a one-day pop-up shop in Williamsburg Wednesday to release a new collection of ice cream flavors inspired by New York City.
The team at Haagen-Dazs created an immersive experience at 71 Moore St. to celebrate the launch of their "City Sweets" ice cream flavors. The goal was to create a traditional city bodega experience.
“The roots for Haagen-Dazs was based in the Bronx, so not far from here. And it's a bodega because it’s part of the New York City experience,” says Rachel Jaiven, the marketing director for the company.
When you first walk into the shop, you see fresh produce and household items. As you get to the aisles of the shop, you start to see the different things that inspired the new flavors. When you get to the freezer door, there’s a dance floor with shelves stocked full of ice cream.
The flavors and packaging took nearly a year to develop. Local artist Jade Purple Brown worked on the package design.
“It really feels insane. We started working on this last year, so to see this in a blown-up way and all the pints of ice cream, it's really a dream come true. I always wanted to work with an ice cream brand, and to partner with Haagen-Dazs on a whole collection has really been a dream,” Brown says.
The new flavors include dulce de leche churro, coffee chocolate brownie, chocolate peanut butter pretzel, summer berry cake pop, and black and white cookie.
The pop-up shop will be open and free to the public Wednesday between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.
