Community leaders and neighbors are standing up against hate Wednesday following an anti-Semitic mark left plastered on the side of a local juice shop in Gravesend.
The graffiti was sprayed on Monday, the anniversary of the mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue. It was found on the side of Very Juice on Avenue P just before 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The owner of Very Juice says this has never happened to her store before. Many of her supporters say that the act was a direct result of anti-Semitic blaming of coronavirus spikes in this area.
Police say the graffiti is a slur directed at Syrian Jews.
The store owner called the NYPD about the hateful markings, adding that there were no cameras on the store to catch the person behind this.
The hateful message has since been cleared.
The NYPD tells News 12 the incident is being investigated by the Hate Crimes Task Force.
