Hip-hop is celebrating its 50th anniversary this month, and some of the genre's pioneers came together to celebrate in Crotona Park.
The Birth of a Culture Block Party was hosted by Grandmaster Flash. Crotona Park is the same place where Grandmaster Flash hosted his block parties back in the 1970s, where on Friday night he recreated the iconic scene.
"It's coming together of races, colors, creed, from around the world, it's one music, it's one language of unification of people around the world," said Grandmaster Flash. "It's still unfolding it's still growing, it's not done yet."
Grandmaster Flash held a performance for those in attendance.
