January is National Mentoring Month, and two individuals from the Bronx who stayed connected for 15 years after meeting through a local organization are sharing how important mentorship has been to them over the years.
Brian Harrison and Bradley Walz met back in 2007 through Tuesday's Children, an organization that helps families impacted by terrorism and mass violence.
Walz signed up for the organization's mentorship program after losing his father in the 9/11 attacks a few years prior.
He says Brian became his mentor and stepped in to give him fatherly advice, play football with him, and has been there for him in his times of need.
The two say the mentorship program has been a saving grace for them both.
Walz says he's now paying it forward by volunteering with organizations that allow him to mentor others.
