A health care worker from Howell has been awarded a new roof.
JoAnna Fabiano is a nurse in the Oncology unit at Monmouth Medical Center. She also volunteered to work in the COVID-19 unit at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
But it was with a little help from her family that led to Fabiano winning the grand prize in the Protecting the Protectors essay contest.
"Unbeknownst to Joanna, it was her brother-in-law who put in the contest application,” says James Cito, director of Residential Shingle Marketing. “She didn't realize she was being entered into the contest, and she was selected and won the contest."
"I'm elated. I don't know if I ever would have entered myself in that kind of contest,” says Fabiano. “I know co-workers who would have totally entered, but I was so grateful and excited that my brother-in-law entered me in this contest."
The contest was a partnership between the roofing company GAF and This Old House.
