Hundreds of workers and their supporters blocked traffic in Yonkers Saturday while rallying for billions of dollars of government funding for excluded workers.
They're asking for $3.5 billion in funding from the state, and say the money will help those who've lost their jobs from the pandemic. They're also asking to help people recently released from prison.
Organizers say Gov. Andrew Cuomo has failed to include funding for undocumented and other excluded workers in his executive budget proposal.
Rally organizers also demand that state lawmakers ease restrictions for applying for funding, such as requiring pay stubs and bank records - which many excluded workers do not have.
