Co-op City community members came together Monday to help families still struggling in the U.S. Virgin Islands following Hurricane Maria.
The Riverbay Corporation collected thousands of supplies for hurricane-affected families over the course of three weeks.
On Monday, volunteers sorted the last remaining donated items, which include necessities like diapers and batteries.
The shipment is now headed to the Virgin Islands. It is expected to arrive in 10 days, after which it will be distributed throughout several Caribbean islands.
