The Highbridge Green School celebrated the reopening of its hydroponic garden Thursday.
The school received a $5,000 grant from both New York Sun Works and the New York Power Authority to reopen the classroom green space.
Over the summer, students from the middle school's garden club spent weeks tilling and cultivating to turn the rooftop back into a classroom green space.
The middle school focuses on sustainability by using wind and solar power technology for the building and recycled rainwater for the school's hydroponic garden.
The school hopes to provide harvest festivities for the community to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
