A woman claims her family member is not getting the treatment they need at Montefiore Medical Center on Eastchester Road.
She says the man was admitted Monday but was left in an emergency room area until Wednesday morning, and the hospital tells her he had a heart attack sometime overnight.
The woman says her relative came to the hospital by ambulance for bleeding and chest pains but was stuck in an area for two days with what appeared to be more than 50 people seeking care.
She says that the area had doctors and staff treating patients there and sometime in the hallway. The woman says the man has seen at least two doctors and received four blood transfusions, but there doesn't seem to be enough doctors to treat patients.
"It's a war zone," she says.
Montefiore Medical Center tells News 12 a $30 million expansion at the Weiler Campus is in the works. It will go to the emergency department to increase capacity by two-thirds.
The family says the man now has a room in the hospital after suffering from the heart attack.
