Employees at one New York City hospital are encouraging residents to get vaccinated by trying to ease their skepticism about the vaccine.
New York City Health + Hospitals/Kings County started a new campaign called NYC Vax Champs to educate people about mistruths regarding the vaccine through social media and town halls.
“People think they are going to get COVID-19 from getting the vaccine, that’s absolutely not true,” says Dr. John Quale. “People think that the vaccine gets into their DNA and it becomes part of them and that’s absolutely not true.”
The hospital started sharing photos on social media of employees getting vaccinated. They have also hosted both in-person and virtual town halls to answer questions regarding the vaccine.
Medical professionals say the risk of the coronavirus is greater than possible risks from the vaccine.
