3h agoBronx residents gathered at Yankee Pizza in Soundview Saturday to award the owner, Gus Kliafas, with an appreciation plaque recognizing his 43 years of serving the community.
They say he made Yankee Pizza a place to gather and develop lifelong friendships.
Carl Delgado, a customer since the beginning, told News 12 that Kliafas gives back by giving out pizza to people who can’t afford it.
“If I can help out, I’ll help out. I never give up,” said Kliafas, who does not have plans to retire.
