Young adults looking to hone their computer science skills are hoping the skills they are getting at one Bronx learning center will help them land a job.
Dozens attend Knowledge House to learn how to code, build websites and design apps. They also meet twice a week to work with mentors in the industry. Some of the students have tech experience while others are learning to code for the first time.
"I like learning how to program, so anything that can challenge my knowledge I'll go and try it out," says student Sergio Garcia.
According to Tunisia Mitchell, a programs manager at Knowledge House, through the year 2020 there will be about 1.2 million jobs available in the tech sector.
Students also get the chance to attend different industry events. The course is free and having a laptop is not required.
