Pizza shops are busy on Friday nights in the first place, but during Lent things become even more of a bustle throughout New York City.
Pizzerias like Louie and Ernie's on Crosby Avenue have seen large crowds, especially from Catholics who abide by Lent rules and abstain from eating meat on Fridays.
The shop has seen a shift in pizza orders on Fridays over the years, with many still getting their pepperoni or sausage toppings, but others sticking to plain from Ash Wednesday until Easter Sunday.
