A Flatbush bar at the center of contentious incidents and complaints was forced to close temporarily this week after its liquor license got suspended.
The Zombie House Bar in Flatbush Avenue would normally be full of people on a Saturday night. But instead, it was closed because the New York State Liquor Authority suspended its liquor license, citing a pattern of disorderly conduct.
The SLA issued an emergency suspension on Wednesday. It said the bar had become a focal point for police attention after a number of violent incidents were reported inside and outside the bar.
Recently, authorities said a 15-year-old boy robbed someone at gunpoint after he was illegally allowed inside the bar back in January. That incident prompted the SLA and the NYPD to investigate the bar.
During several inspections, the agencies said the bar sold alcohol to underaged undercover agents.
The SLA said police had to respond to regular calls for excessive noise from drunk and disorderly patrons.
The investigations also revealed a number of safety violations inside the bar.
Some neighbors had called for the bar to close for some time now.
Bar representatives denied the allegations at the time.
This week, the chairman of the SLA said in a statement, “The continuing disorder occurring at this establishment clearly shows this bar is being run in a manner that is an imminent threat to the public health, safety and welfare."
According to the SLA, this suspension is not permanent and the owners are entitled to a hearing in front of a judge.
News 12 reached out to the bar owners but did not respond to requests for comment.
