Authorities are investigating a fire in which firefighters found a man burned once they cleared the flames.
The fire started sometime after 8 p.m. Thursday on the first floor of a three-story building on Weeks Avenue in Mount Hope. Firefighters say the fire took nearly 40 minutes to get under control.
When the smoke cleared, responders found a man lying unconscious on the floor with burn marks all over his body.
The victim, who was transported to a hospital in cardiac arrest, later died. A medical examiner is working to determine the exact cause of death.
Two other people suffered some injuries in the fire, and the Red Cross was assisting residents of the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
