A manhunt is underway across Rockland and Westchester counties for a man accused of domestic violence.
Rye Brook police say Ramapo detectives asked them for help in looking for John Larrywon, 29, who is accused of menacing his girlfriend with a shotgun in Ramapo Wednesday night.
Larrywon's mom lives in the Bellefair neighborhood in Rye Brook. Village officers say they saw Larrywon at one point at the house but that he refused to come out.
Other police agencies arrived, including the county's special response team.
Around 1:30 a.m., Larrywon's mother gave the team permission to send in a robot. That robot confirmed that Larrywon was gone, having escaped at some point during the standoff.
People living in the area they heard a helicopter above, saw lights and heard sirens all through a nerve-wracking night. "We were on our decks. We could hear the cops on a microphone asking the person to come outside repeatedly for several hours," says Jamie Spielberg, a neighbor.
Ramapo police have a warrant for Larrywon's arrest and are looking for him. He's facing charges of menacing with a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm.
