Some Marble Hill House tenants who have been living without gas for months are still dealing with the issue and have been forced to utilize alternatives for food.
Khiana Aybar and her children have lived under difficult circumstances over the past four months. They have been unable to use their stove because of what NYCHA officials call an issue with gas riser piping.
Aybar says she was given a new stove and hot plates, and was told gas was suspended until further notice. Months later, nothing has changed. Other building residents with the same issue have had to stick to hot plates or make continuous trips to local delis.
NYCHA responded to News 12's request for comment, saying in part, "Staff are scheduled to begin repair work to gas risers next week and will schedule for inspections and safety checks upon completion in order to ensure the safe restoration of service for our residents."
