School leaders celebrated a Mass at St. Raymond Elementary School Monday to honor the 150th anniversary of the FDNY as part of Catholic School Week in the city.
School officials say it's their way of saying thanks to the public servants for keeping the community safe.
Students presented officers with special thank you cards they made themselves, and the school choir performed their own rendition of the popular song, "Hero."
Many of the officers took time out of their work schedule to attend the Mass.
